52367 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What polices and procedures, if any, does the Ministry of Education follow when receiving a complaint regarding a school/kura from a parent/guardian?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that when a parent or guardian complains to the Ministry about a school or kura, they are first encouraged to raise the issue directly with the school or kura. If they have, then the Ministry may investigate whether the school or kura appropriately looked into the complaint. The Ministry does not assess or influence the outcome of the complaint.
