52344 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Veterans: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on the impact of public service cuts, if any, within their department, if any?

Hon Chris Penk: On 9 August 2024, the following advice was provided to me in a weekly report: Workforce Savings As part of its efforts to achieve workforce savings, on Monday 12 August the NZDF will enable civilian staff to apply for voluntary redundancy. Staff will be able to apply over a two-week period, which will be followed by a two to four-week period (the precise timing will be determined by the volume of applications) to determine which applications will be accepted. All NZDF civilian staff, including those in VA, will be able to apply. The NZDF will ensure that applications from VA staff will only be accepted if overall cost savings can be made and work to streamline and improve the delivery of services to veterans is not interrupted.
