52343 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: Does the Minister agree with teachers' unions that her Government's reforms of the Teaching Council is a "blatant power grab"; if not, why not?

Hon Erica Stanford: No. The Teaching Council remains an independent statutory body with a critical role in quality assuring teacher education programmes, registration, certification, discipline, competence and conduct.
