52321 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: How many hours of training, if any, does a Worksafe inspectorate staff member receive before undertaking assessments of on-site temporary traffic management activities?
Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised that before undertaking such on-site assessments, WorkSafe New Zealand inspectors complete an initial online self-paced module, and measurement is based on completion. As such, number of hours is not a measure that is centrally collated or reported. In addition to the online training, inspectors undertake training on the risk of working in and around vehicles as part of their foundational development. This training is relevant to all workplaces where vehicles are a risk in day-to-day work activity.
