52295 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Police

52295 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Police: What teams, business units, and functions in the Minister’s departments, if any, have been disestablished since November 2023, and how many FTE were in them?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Police has shared a change proposal with police staff, which focuses on making savings by reducing employee roles, focusing on corporate functions. This savings requirement was outlined in the Government’s Budget 2024 package. A consultation process will now run for three weeks with decisions anticipated in October.
If implemented, the changes would result in 248 roles being disestablished, with 128 of those already vacant. This means 78 roles would be created, resulting in a net reduction of 170 roles.
In regards to the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), between 1 November 2023 and 21 August 2024, no team, business unit or function within the SFO has lost 30% or more FTE roles. This excludes roles where a staff member has resigned, but the FTE role has remained vacant or been filled. No team, business unit or function within the Serious Fraud Office has been disestablished.
