Hon Mark Mitchell: The breath test target of 3.3 million reflects the strategic priorities set out in the Government Policy Statement (GPS) on land transport, which emphasises safety and a stronger focus on impaired driving. The issue identified relates to staff conduct, not the strategic intent or appropriateness of the target itself. The target remains a critical component of the Road Policing Investment Programme which is aligned with the GPS to improve safety outcomes.
