52198 (2025). Steve Abel to the Minister of Climate Change: Were the scenarios developed by the Methane Science and Target Review Panel as part of the 2050 methane target review based on the adoption of new technologies, and if so, were these based on any data or projections?

Hon Simon Watts: No. The scenarios used by the Methane Science and Target Review Panel were for different global temperature outcomes and used to model the emissions reductions required to achieve no additional warming from a 2017 base year. They did not address the feasibility of different target options or mitigation technologies.
