52135 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister for Regulation: Will ministers / departments be obliged to engage with the Ministry for Regulation when preparing regulatory proposals, if so what will the requirements be?

Hon David Seymour: Cabinet Circular CO (20) 2 sets out the requirements for Ministers and agencies seeking approvals relating to government regulatory proposals. The responsibility for administering the requirements in this circular has been transferred from Treasury to the Ministry for Regulation. CabGuide, the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet’s guide to Cabinet processes, also includes guidance on consulting with the Ministry for Regulation in the section Cabinet paper consultation with Government agencies.
