52125 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education: What teams, business units, and functions in the Minister’s departments, if any, have increased FTEs since November 2023, and how many FTEs have they been increased by?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that one regional business group, Te Mahau Takiwā | Te Tai Raro (Auckland and Northland), has had a full time equivalent (FTE) increase of 23.75 between 30 November 2023 and 31 July 2024. The Ministry has continued to recruit to critical frontline positions including learning support specialists, curriculum leads and leadership advisors.
I am advised by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority that since November 2023, three business units - Assessment Delivery, Data Warehouse and Data, Evaluation and System Performance have had an increase of one FTE. The People and Capability business unit have had an increase of 13 FTEs and that the School Quality Assurance and Support business unit have had an increase of 5 FTEs. New FTEs are a result of operating model changes, noting that the overall staff FTE count at NZQA has decreased.
I am advised by the Education Review Office that no business groups have increased in size since November 2023.
