52120 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Economic Development: What teams, business units, and functions in the Minister’s departments, if any, have increased FTEs since November 2023, and how many FTEs have they been increased by?

Hon Melissa Lee: I have been advised that, MBIE’s FTE has decreased across all groups since November 2023. These decreases are a result of MBIE undertaking a number of initiatives to meet its overall fiscal savings objectives and align its workforce to ensure delivery of Government priorities in a fiscally constrained environment. These initiatives include the ending of some work programmes (including stop work notices, legislative repeal), closure of vacancies, restricting recruitment, offering voluntary redundancy, and a number of formal change processes. In some instances, where work programmes have ended and/or teams have been reconfigured to better deliver to the Government’s work programme, MBIE have reallocated staff and/or redeployed them in line with managing their change employment obligations. With regard to New Zealand Growth Capital Partners, I am advised that there have been none.
