52119 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Defence: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on the impact of public service cuts, if any, within their department, if any?

Hon Judith Collins: Advice provided as part of the Budget 24 Savings Initiative indicated that this would impact Defence diplomacy and engagements, the pace with which larger policy projects could be progressed, number and scale of assessments and Defence capability procurements (if new projects are commissioned then this would impact the ability to scale up). The New Zealand Defence Force has advised me of cost reduction measures from savings on: contractors and consultants; domestic and overseas travel; ceremonies; training; and, stationery, rent, insurance and other administrative costs
