52078 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Children: What teams, business units, and functions in the Minister’s departments, if any, have increased FTEs since November 2023, and how many FTEs have they been increased by?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that while the Oranga Tamariki organisational restructure has increased and decreased FTEs across teams, business units and functions, some may have simply changed names. Therefore changes to FTE numbers within teams, business units and functions cannot be framed as net increases or reductions, as many staff may have simply been reconfirmed in their roles under a different name. Given the above, it is not possible to provide a response to the Member’s question in the way it has been asked. However I am advised that as at 30 November 2023, Oranga Tamariki had 4883.8 active FTEs in permanent and fixed term roles. By comparison, as at 31 July 2024, this number was 4806.2. I can also confirm that in the Oranga Tamariki organisational restructure 594 roles are being disestablished and 175 roles are being created, with a net reduction of 419 roles.
