52057 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Agriculture: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on the impact of public service cuts, if any, within their department, if any?

Hon Todd McClay: I received regular oral updates advising me on the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) staff change proposals as part of MPI’s Budget 2024 cost savings work. These decisions are the responsibility of the relevant Chief Executive, however, I am advised that MPI has not made any reductions to frontline services and statutory roles, such as veterinarians, animal welfare, forestry managers, fishery and food compliance officers, or biosecurity teams at the border. I refer the member to the attached table which lists the documents I recivied advising me about MPI staff change proposals.
