51935 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Further to 46922 (2025), has the Office of the Inspectorate Te Tari Tirohia visited any Oranga Tamariki youth justice facility since 1 July 2024; if so, which one(s) and for what purpose?

Hon Karen Chhour: Yes. I am advised that representatives from the Office of the Inspectorate visited Korowai Manaaki youth justice residence in July 2025. Oranga Tamariki has a working relationship with the Inspectorate. The purpose of the visit was to support Oranga Tamariki leadership in exploring the creation of a performance measurement framework, or internal 'inspection standards' for residences and assessing any potential improvements in how these facilities are monitored, which would support ongoing performance management and continuous improvement.
