51934 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Further to 46918 (2025), how was the Oranga Tamariki work programme referred to assessed as being at the end of its lifespan?
Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that the programme team assessed progress on an ongoing basis, as part of regular internal reporting. Oranga Tamariki has a significant change programme underway in the residences and homes space. This year there have been opportunities, where actions from the previous work programme were not already completed, to streamline some actions or merge them with other programmes. Therefore it was considered to be reaching the end of its lifespan in its current format. Examples of ongoing programmes which are relevant to the original findings of the Mike Bush Rapid Review include workforce development, professionalisation and improving safety in residences.
