51760 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: How does the Minister plan to enhance the role of iwi-Māori partnership boards in the planning of local health services, as per his disclosure that the creation of new localities is over at the South General Practice Conference & Medical Exhibition on 16 August 2024, and what new responsibilities or powers will they be granted under the government, if any?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: Individual Iwi-Māori partnership boards (IMPBs) are identifying what priorities and services they consider would drive improvement in health outcomes for whānau. The Pae Ora legislative amendments require that Health NZ supports and engages with IMPBs. This includes providing financial support and direction where needed and engaging with IMPBs when determining priorities for kaupapa Māori investment. I have sought for them to develop Community Health Plans which will describe how they will deliver their legislative functions over the next 3-5 years.
