51753 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister for Regulation: Does the Ministry for Regulation review regulatory proposals for Regulatory Impact Analysis compliance; if so what proportion of proposals do not meet the standards of compliance, by month?
Hon David Seymour: The Ministry for Regulation has been responsible for the Regulatory Impact Analysis system since 1 May 2024.
The Ministry advises on Cabinet’s impact analysis requirements for the proposals that are lodged in the RIA Online system. Some proposals may also be notified to the Ministry directly.
Officials advise that the number of regulatory proposals notified to the Ministry, and the number of proposals it is aware are non-compliant, are as follows.
May 2024: 44 proposals, 3 non-compliant
June 2024: 44 proposals, 2 non-compliant
July 2024: 37 proposals, 1 non-compliant
Proposals are reported in the month in which they are scheduled to be considered by Cabinet. These figures include all proposals submitted through RIA Online, and all proposals which the Ministry is aware are non-compliant.
