Hon Chris Bishop: I have directed NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi to implement measures to reduce repeat pothole repairs, including: - Dedicated funding for prevention through the State Highway Pothole Prevention Activity Class, prioritising resealing, rehabilitation, and drainage improvements. - Performance targets requiring 95% of potholes on high-volume state highways to be repaired within 24 hours, using higher-quality materials and methods. - Enhanced oversight, with increased inspection frequency and regular reviews with contractors to ensure durable repairs and reduce repeat failures.
