51722 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: How much funding in total, if any, has been made available to all state schools to enable them to prepare to apply structured literacy approaches by Term 1 2025?

Hon Erica Stanford: Funding for professional learning and development (PLD) for structured approaches to literacy and te reo matatini was made available in Term 3 2024, initially focusing on Year 0-3 teachers. It will become available to Year 4-6 teachers during 2025. PLD funding is paid directly to providers by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry). The Ministry has budgeted a total of $23,940,000 across four years for teacher release to cover each participant who attends the three-day facilitated PLD workshops.
