51706 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health

51706 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Does he agree with psychiatrist Dr Caleb Armstrong that there is a lack of experience and confidence in the mental health community towards ketamine, and, if so, what, if anything, will he do to address this?
Hon Matt Doocey: I refer the Member to Written Parliamentary Question 51714 (2024). Ketamine is a complex drug that has strong effects on the mental and physical states of patients. I am advised that whilst Ketamine is emerging as a new treatment option, a recent report by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists has indicated that further active research is required to understand how to optimally use Ketamine for treating mental illness.
