51671 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Energy: What new or renewed office leases have been entered into since 1 January 2024 by any agency for which the Minister is responsible, if any, and for each lease, what is the total cost, term, floor area, and current occupancy rate?
Hon Simon Watts: "As Minister of Energy, I have no responsibility for any government departments or Ministries. In respect of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, I refer the Member to the Minister for Economic Growth's answer to written parliamentary question 51668 (2025). With regard to Crown entities under the energy portfolio, the EA and EECA: [EA]: The Electricity Authority has not entered into any new or renewed office leases since 1 January 2024. The current lease for Level 7, Aon Centre, Wellington commenced in July 2022 and remains in effect. Rent adjustments have occurred in line with the lease agreement. The Authority has an arrangement with MBIE for access to shared office space in Auckland. This is not a separate lease held by the Authority; MBIE retains the head lease. The arrangement provides occasional workspace for staff and does not materially affect the Authority’s property portfolio. [EECA]: EECA has not entered into any new or renewed leases since 1 January 2024. However, their lease for their Wellington office has been amended to surrender a portion of the floor space, which will not be required following a refurbishment. A large portion of the one-off refurbishment costs will be covered by the Landlord, with operational savings funding the residual portion."
