51670 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Energy: How many, if any agencies for which the Minister is responsible have reduced staff numbers since 2023 while maintaining or increasing their total office space holdings?

Hon Simon Watts: "As Minister of Energy, I have no responsibility for any government departments or Ministries. In respect of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, I refer the Member to the Minister for Economic Growth's answer to written parliamentary question 51667 (2025). With regard to Crown entities under the energy portfolio, the EA and EECA: [EA]: Electricity Authority has not had reduced staff numbers since 2023 while maintaining or increasing their total office space holdings. [EECA]: In Budget 2023, EECA had a budget for 145 FTEs, which has decreased down to 125 budgeted FTEs in 2025/26. EECA has a plan in place to significantly reduce its leased floor area at their head office, from 1,600 to 1,100, with most of the renovation costs met by the landlord. This will reduce EECA's overall lease costs from $973k annually to $677K annually."
