51628 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: How many, if any agencies for which the Minister is responsible have reduced staff numbers since 2023 while maintaining or increasing their total office space holdings?

Hon Louise Upston: I am advised that the Ministry of Social Development’s (the Ministry’s) total floor area has reduced by approximately 14,000sqm since 2023 but its FTE has stayed relatively the same, with a reduction in FTE of 13.9, comparing 1 July 2023 with 31 October 2025. In this time, the Ministry has undergone change processes which have resulted in FTE reduction but also acquired new functions such as Disability Support Services and the Child Wellbeing & Poverty Reduction Group and received additional funding for FTEs through budget decisions.
