51560 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Education: What is the total floor area and annual cost of all office space currently leased or owned by each agency for which the Minister is responsible, and what proportion of that space is currently occupied by staff?

Hon Erica Stanford: I refer the Member to the attached table showing the Education Review office’s leased office space in floor area and annual cost by location. Please note Occupancy rates are not held for these locations, and carparks are not included. Auckland and Christchurch are under co-location agreements, the cost are based on a per desk amounts rather than a square meter rate. I am advised that, as at 30 June 2025, the Ministry of Education leases office space of 50,230.50 total square metres, which is fully occupied by staff. The annual cost of this office space is $21,429,650 (excl GST). I am advised that, as at 30 June 2025, Education New Zealand leases office space of 952.7 total square meters, which is fully occupied by staff. The annual cost of this office space is $545,259. I am advised that the New Zealand Qualifications Authority leases and occupies 5,721.31 total square metres of office space, which is fully occupied by staff. The annual of this office space is $3,164,170.04 (excl GST).
