51554 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Defence: What is the total floor area and annual cost of all office space currently leased or owned by each agency for which the Minister is responsible, and what proportion of that space is currently occupied by staff?

Hon Judith Collins: The New Zealand Defence Force leases office space in Wellington, Trentham and Petone. The total floor area is 27,552 m² and the total cost for financial year 2024/25 was $13,742,048. Staff occupy 100 percent of the leased space. The Ministry of Defence leases 2,333 square metres from the New Zealand Defence Force, including a portion of shared common spaces. This arrangement has not changed since 2019. All desks are occupied by staff. The total cost of this rental was $1.24m in 2024/25.
