51499 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Lead Coordination Minister for the Government's Response to the Royal Commission's Report into the Terrorist Attack on the Christchurch Mosques: What consultations, if any, has the Minister and/or her Office undertaken regarding the decision to not progress eight recommendations of the Royal Commission into the terrorist attack on Christchurch mosques; listed by agency, title and date received/sent?
Hon Judith Collins: While I oversaw the coordinated government response, decisions on each of the eight recommendations not progressed sat with the responsible Ministers. When making these decisions, Ministers considered how they could best meet the intent of the Royal Commission of Inquiry. I met with other responsible Ministers on 10 May 2024 to discuss the outstanding recommendations and their decisions on the recommendations they were responsible for. My decision not to continue with recommendation 27 (restorative justice) considered the restorative approach taken throughout the response to the Royal Commission of Inquiry and the work undertaken to support the unique needs of the affected community.
