51428 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Further to his response to WPQ 50089 (2025), will NZTA hold any public meetings or hui for the Waipu to Whangārei section before route protection notices are issued?

Hon Chris Bishop: NZTA has advised me that it has completed two rounds of public engagement at a number of locations across the corridor. NZTA has advised me that its focus is now on engagement with affected parties as required by the Fast-track Approvals Act 2024 (FTAA) to meet the statutory requirements as identified in the legislation. Further information will be released at the date of lodgement. No further public meetings are planned prior to lodging the FTTA application. Targeted engagement with iwi/hapu continue to be required by the FTAA.
