51393 (2025). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: What is the average time savings at peak time for a) bus journeys and b) car journeys modelled, if any, for the second Mount Vic Tunnel and Basin Reserve, not including any other proposed transport improvements?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that the average travel time savings for the second Mount Vic Tunnel and Basin Reserve has not been assessed in isolation. Transport modelling for the State Highway 1 Wellington Improvements project as a whole (from Terrace Tunnel to Cobham Drive) shows travel time savings of up to 10 minutes on key peak-time state highway journeys. The project will also enable bus services to benefit from the improvements at Mt Victoria Tunnel and the Basin Reserve, improving reliability for public transport.
