Hon Peeni Henare to the Minister of Defence: How many instances, if any, of the New Zealand Defence Force procuring ceremonial items such as uniforms, decorations, or presentation gifts exceeding usual protocol requirements have occurred since 27 November 2023, listed by date, item description, purpose, who authorised the procurement, the recipient(s), and the total cost to the Crown of each instance?

Hon Judith Collins: The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) does not procure ceremonial items such as uniforms, decorations, or presentation gifts exceeding usual protocol requirements. Purchases are generally replacements for stock required for normal ceremonial activities. In addition, the NZDF and partner countries are mutually reducing the number of gift exchanges, reflecting the increased focus on multilateral working visits.
