51122 (2025). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: For the investment case for the "SH1 Wellington improvements" project, what population data was used and what assumptions of annual traffic growth, if any, used to calculate forecast travel-time savings benefits?

Hon Chris Bishop: Transport modelling uses land use growth forecasts rather than traffic growth to estimate travel demands. The base assumption uses the Statistics NZ medium population projections for the Wellington Region in 2033 and 2053 to estimate traffic flows and resultant travel times.
