51080 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Further to her answer to written question 49992 (2025): what measures have been put in place to make up for this shortfall in revenue?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by Fire and Emergency New Zealand that they have implemented cost reduction initiatives to offset the impact of reduced levy revenue on operating surpluses. These measures include - • reprioritisation of project funding; • embedding organisational efficiencies; and • reductions in contractors, consultants and travel expenditure. All measures are being managed with clear communication and careful prioritisation to ensure emergency response services are protected. Should levy receipts remain significantly below expectations further mitigations have been identified to offset the shortfall.
