51033 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: How does the half billion dollars spent annually on a range of homelessness support programmes breakdown by transitional housing, Housing First, Rapid Rehousing and emergency housing?
Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised that actual expenditure for 2024/25 was as follows:
Transitional Housing – $354.178M
Contracted Emergency Housing – $25.323M
Social Housing Services* – $106.154M
*Includes Housing First, Rapid Rehousing etc but excludes IRRS component of programmes.
In addition to the above, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development advises that IRRS payments for Housing First and Rapid Rehousing programmes are estimated to cost around $91M, based on expected client volumes and costs.
