50828 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What, if anything, is the Government doing to provide a healthy learning environment free from pathogens and other environmental hazards that impact students’ achievement and attendance?
Hon Erica Stanford: The Ministry of Education is supporting healthy learning environments through the rollout of Internal Environment Monitoring devices in classrooms, measuring CO₂, temperature, sound levels and humidity. The on-screen monitors help schools take timely action, supported by practical guidance on ventilation and thermal strategies. Between 2022 and 2023, air cleaners were distributed to schools for ongoing use in challenging spaces and during high-risk periods. These efforts align with the School Property 2025 objectives to ensure classrooms are safe, warm, dry, and accessible, creating spaces that support student outcomes.
