50825 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: How many, if any, teachers have stopped teaching due to Long Covid or long-term illness following a viral infection, since 1 January 2025?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) does not hold information on the specific reasons why a teacher would be on extended sick leave or whether reasons for resignation relate to long term illness. Teachers are employed by individual schools or boards and this information is held at the employer level.
