50813 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: How, if at all, are Internal Environment Monitoring devices being used to monitor and improve the environment for activities like assemblies, exams, and large end of year gatherings?
Hon Erica Stanford: Internal Environment Monitoring devices are primarily used for routine classroom conditions but can also support planning for larger activities like assemblies, exams, and end-of-year gatherings. CO₂ and sound level data provide useful proxies for occupancy and activity intensity, helping schools assess ventilation needs. While not formally tracked, schools can use this data to choose suitable spaces and adjust environmental conditions accordingly.
