Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Conservation: Further to replies to Question for Oral No. 11 on Oct 15 Does the Minister agree with the statement "To suggest that a single Minister or a Government or 5.2 million people at the distant end of the South Pacific can effect change when larger climate change emitters are doing zero is fanciful" and if so, why, and if not, why not?

Hon Tama Potaka: I agree with the sentiments of Minister Jones that there are larger countries doing less than they could and on a global scale New Zealand's climate footprint is relatively small. However, we still have emissiions reduction targets under the Paris Agreement. This Government is committed to addressing climate change through reducing our emissions, such as through doubling its renewable energy, and introducing an adaptation framework to support communities in adapting to the impacts of climate change.
