50712 (2025). Hon Marama Davidson to the Minister of Corrections: How many prisoners on remand have been able to access rehabilitation programmes, shown as total number of prisoners accessing programmes, and broken down by offence and non-offence related programmes, since December 2024?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that following the drawdown of tagged contingency funding to extend rehabilitative services to people on remand after 1 July 2025 as provided for under Budget 2024, and in line with the Coalition Government’s Q3 Action Plan, Corrections has started delivering offence-focused rehabilitative services to remand convicted prisoners. Corrections has also begun extending the delivery of non-offence-focused rehabilitative services to all prisoners on remand. I refer the member to the attached table, which provides the number of prisoners on remand who have been able to access rehabilitation programmes since December 2024, broken down by offence and non-offence related programmes.
