50706 (2025). Hon Marama Davidson to the Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence: What lessons, if any, are being taken from the accelerated outreach in Rotorua and Auckland City into the nationally consistent approach to managing risk?
Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised the Centre for Family Violence and Sexual Violence Prevention is working with Rotorua and Auckland City accelerated outreach sites to identify lessons learned and to apply these lessons to achieve a nationally consistent risk management approach. These lessons include: • Changes to triage so there is a more structured approach to gathering and analysing information about a wider range of risk and lethality indicators. • Making sure information is available during the triage risk assessment to determine an appropriate response. • Expanding ‘super-advocate’ support beyond adult victim/survivors to include children and young people, and people using violence. • Enhancing the safety planning process for victim/survivors to include more actions and clarify responsibility for follow-ups. • Options for more integrated responses that focus on coordinated action rather than assigning sole agency responsibility.
