50669 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What actions, if any, has the Minister taken to address surgical mesh-related harm, excluding receiving advice from the Surgical Mesh Roundtable or the Ministry of Health?

Hon Casey Costello: This is an operational matter that the Ministry of Health has oversight of. Health New Zealand and other healthcare providers in the system are responsible for operational aspects of improving patient safety related to the use of surgical mesh. I receive regular updates on progress to address recommendations arising from the restorative justice report published in 2019.
