50584 (2024). Rachel Boyack to the Minister for Children: What advice has she received, if any, regarding alternative service providers of Family Start services in the Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough regions?

Hon Karen Chhour: I have been advised that Oranga Tamariki are still in the process of finalising contracts in relation to Family Start but can confirm that there are no discontinuations of services, but reductions based around whānau volumes, key deliverables and vacancies over the last 18 months (pre April 2024) for each provider. Contracting decisions are an operational matter and are the responsibility of the Chief Executive of Oranga Tamariki.
