50455 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Pending the passing of a reformed Companies Act, does the Minister have an interim plan for directors to remove their home addresses from the Company Register for safety reasons?
Hon Andrew Bayly: Currently someone with a protection order under the Family Violence Act 2018 or equivalent order under the Sentencing Act 2002 may have their residential address information removed from a public register, including the Companies Register. I intend to introduce legislation as soon as possible in 2025 which provides a more comprehensive solution to this issue than both the measures above. It will allow for directors and shareholders to provide an address for service for the Companies Register rather than their home address for any reason.
