Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that the data being sought is not recorded in the way the member has asked. Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children (Oranga Tamariki) does not have a classification or reporting category titled ‘uplift’. It reports on entries to the care or custody of Oranga Tamariki via four categorised pathways: urgent entry, section 78, care agreement, and arranged entry. To determine what Police involvement there was, if any, for any entry into care would require significant manual collation and I am not prepared to ask this of my officials at this time. As such, in accordance with the Speaker’s Ruling 185-4, I consider that the time, and therefore the expense, of answering the Member’s question is not in the public interest.
