50379 (2024). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Climate Change: Does the Minister think that in the National Adaption Plan Progress Report (August 2024) ‘ensuring iwi/Māori retain rangatiratanga and can adapt their communities in a way that is consistent with their tikanga, and aligned with their whakaaro tau (priorities) will make adaptation efforts more effective’, if so, will the Minister allow for Māori and iwi to create their own by Māori for Māori climate adaptation response, if not, why not?
Hon Simon Watts: Cabinet has yet to consider its response to this report. I will publish a full response to the Commission's report and recommendations within six months of it being tabled, as required by the Climate Change Response Act. I also expect the cross-party Climate Adaption inquiry before the Finance and Expenditure Select Committee will consider this report and its recommendations.
