50310 (2025). Hūhana Lyndon to the Associate Minister of Health: How, if at all, will the use of flavoured vapes help with reducing nicotine harm and addiction?
Hon Casey Costello: The Member seems to again be conflating issues around smoking and nicotine. We know that vapes are effective tools to support smoking cessation and are much less harmful than cigarettes. To the extent that flavoured vapes offer smokers choice that supports them to quit, then I would expect more smokers to switch to the much less harmful alternative of vaping.
