50253 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Transport: Has Waihoehoe Road Upgrade, Auckland experienced any delays, cost overruns, or scope changes since its inclusion in the 20 July 2025 Beehive press release titled “Infrastructure projects to drive jobs and growth”, and if so, what are the reasons, as at 17 October 2025?
Hon Chris Bishop: An enabling works package is expected to get underway on the project in the coming month, including substantial earthworks and bridge piling works. By utilising the Christmas block of line closure on the rail network, NZTA seeks to mitigate a significant project risk and provide certainty for site handover to the main contractor early next year. This approach will help ensure the project is completed on time and within budget.
