50157 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How many houses, if any, leased by Kāinga Ora had not been tenanted for 180-364 days at 30 September 2025 and for each where is it located and why was it vacant?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that as at 30 September 2025, one leased home in Hamilton and 22 leased units in a Wellington have been vacant for more than 180 days, including 10 that have been vacant for more than one year. For the Hamilton property, Kāinga Ora is in the process of returning it to its owner. The Wellington units are based at the Church Street apartment building. As at 21 October 2025, most are either in the process of undergoing repair or are ready to be matched to applicants on the social housing register. This is also my reply to WPQ 50159 (2025).
