Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: Have officials in the Ministry of Social Development or Kāinga Ora ever provided him with a figure, estimate, or range for the number of pregnant women who have applied for emergency housing in the past 12 months, if so, on what date and time?

Hon Tama Potaka: No. On Tuesday 14th October 2025, I was advised that the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) does not record the pregnancy status of applicants for emergency housing. Therefore, I am advised that it is not possible to say how many pregnant women in the past 12 months have applied for emergency housing. Kāinga Ora is not responsible for Emergency Housing.
