50106 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What assessment, if any, has been undertaken of the impact of any removal of mātauranga Māori from Outdoor Education with the subject’s industry-led designation?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Government has not yet made final decisions on the proposal to replace NCEA with new qualifications. This includes Proposal 1, which aims to strengthen industry-led subjects, like Outdoor Education, and integrate them into the senior secondary qualifications. Once final decisions are confirmed, further work will be undertaken to ensure that any changes are implemented with sufficient support for teachers, students and industry. This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 50108, 50109 and 50110 (2025).
