50088 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education
Written Question
Published date: 28 Aug 2024
50088 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education: How many staff, if any, were employed in the Minister's departments, if any, on 1 July 2023 that worked on greenhouse gas emissions reduction efforts, categorised by whether they worked on organisational/corporate emissions reduction or nationwide emissions reduction or both?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that, as at both 1 July 2023 and 1 July 2024, the Ministry of Education has seven positions focused on supporting the requirements of the Carbon Neutral Government Programme, which sets requirements for public agencies, including state schools and kura.
As at both 1 July 2023 and 1 July 2024, the New Zealand Qualifications Authority had approximately 1.5 staff members involved in reduction efforts of greenhouse gas emissions within the organisation, but not on a full-time basis.
While the Education Review Office continues to meet all its obligations regarding greenhouse gas emissions reduction within existing positions, no record is kept to the level of specificity the Member has requested.
