50085 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education: How many staff, if any, were employed in the Minister's departments, if any, on 1 July 2023 that worked on climate change adaptation, categorised by work on corporate/organisational climate adaptation or national climate change adaptation or both?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that, as at both 1 July 2023 and 1 July 2024, the Ministry of Education has seven positions focused on supporting the requirements of the Carbon Neutral Government Programme, which sets requirements for public agencies, including state schools and kura. As at both 1 July 2023 and 1 July 2024, the New Zealand Qualifications Authority had no staff involved in climate change adaptation work. While the Education Review Office continues to meet all its obligations in climate change adaptation work within existing positions, no record is kept to the level of specificity the Member has requested. This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 50096 (2024).
